Eat that dessert!

August 07, 2017 02:01 pm | Updated 02:01 pm IST

These low-cal treats come in at under 250 calories, and if you stick to just one, you can eat them even on a reducing diet

The point about a diet is to discover new ways of finding joy in food. If you want to lose weight, skip anything that is extreme. If you’re only going to eat boiled veggies through the day, for instance, it will drive you insane, plus you’ll never be able to socialise. A good diet should fit your personality and lifestyle like a glove. So don’t ban anything. You must be able to sustain it. A diet is not an anti-food or anti-fun campaign. Look to moderation and portion control.

If you love dessert and feel deprived, eat your sweets, but make sure they deliver some nutritional value. Also, avoid doubling calories with something that’s both fried and dunked in sugar syrup. Look beyond combinations of refined flour, sugar and unhealthy fats with these below-250-calorie petite treats you can make.

Gordon Galea, the pastry chef at AnnaMaya, Andaz, Delhi, says that it’s possible to make these a part of a dessert that has nutritional value: nuts, fruit, complex grains, dairy and dark chocolate. Here are his recipes.
