Relaxing is very important for sportsmen. That is why a day before their match with the Mumbai Indians, the Delhi Daredevils team, which won the match, relaxed with some mocktails and smoothies at J.W. Marriot Hotel in Aerocity.
Not only did they enjoy their drinks but also made their favourite mocktails and smoothies for the media. Each drink was named after the player making it.
“I enjoyed making a mocktail. For summers it is always good to have something cool. So, it was good fun,” said fast bowler Zaheer Khan after making his drink Zaheer’s York-Khus.

Asked about his favourite drink, Zaheer’s reply was water. Zaheer’s York-Khus was a khus flavoured mocktail made with lemon juice, khus syrup, mint leaves, rock salt, soda, kewra water and Thai lemon (garnish). The drink is “good for summers,” said Zaheer. “I have tried my hand in the kitchen and I can cook as well. It was a wonderful experience making mocktails. I have made it, but I would not taste it,” he chuckled.
All-rounder Albie Morkel’s drink Morkel’s “All Honeydew Rounder” was made with honeydew melon juice, cucumber juice, lime juice, mandarin wedges, 7up and cucumber for garnish.
“It was a nice experience. I like to see myself in the kitchen cooking or making smoothies and mocktails. When you have all the tools like they have, it gets very easy and enjoyable to make mocktails,” said Morkel.

Another interesting drink was batsman Mayank Agarwal’s Mayank’s BMW cooler. The mocktail was made of basil, mint, watermelon juice, ginger juice and ginger ale. “All the drinks were named after something that the players like. Mayank likes BMWs so his drink was named like that,” said Ankur Chawla, beverage manager.
Apart from these, Delhi Daredevils captain J. P. Duminy’s drink Duminy’s Hattrick-Panna and Gurinder Sandhu’s Bouncer Mary were other refreshments of the day.
