The Hindu-Saregama MSS Award

The Hindu -Saregama M.S. Subbulakshmi Award-2013, instituted in the memory of the doyenne of Carnatic music, will be presented to young Carnatic vocalists on October 27.

This is open to artists in the 18 -26 age group. Participants have to record their voice on a CD and the samples must not exceed 15 minutes.

The Hindu in association with Saregama, will call for entries through ads. An eminent panel of judges will select and shortlist the top 50 vocalists, who will have to perform live before the judges. Among them, the top Five chosen have to perform before a live audience.

The winner will get an opportunity to record an album with Saregama, and will receive the

The Hindu -Saregama MSS Award Trophy.

The last to submit entries is September 30 . CDs have to be sent to Saregama India, Kasi Arcade, Third Floor, 2,3,4 and 5, No. 116, Theyagaraya Road, T. Nagar, Chennai 600 017; ph: 044-28151669

Names of the Top 50 participants will be announced on October 14 and they will have to perform on October19 (tentative). The selection and announcement of Top 5 will be done on October 21 (tentative).

The finals will be on October 27 where the winner will be announced.
