Veena maestro Chittibabu's jayanthi was celebrated jointly by two music sabhas –Saptaswara and Nadabharati – by organising a veena concert of his ardent disciple Dwibhashyam Nageshbabu at Swathi Hall, DD Colony, before a gathering of musicians.

Nagesh opened with a brisk Sarasa Samadana' in Kapinarayani marked by good swarakalpana . His play of Ananda Bhairavi was elegant. Syamasastry's Marivere' was his choice number in this. Nagesh then played Navarasakannada for Ninuvina Namadendu' frequently played by Chittibabu. Deekshitar's Koumari Gowri' in Gowrimanohari and Brochevarevarura' in khamas were pleasing kirtana presentations, before he took up raga Lalitha for expansion. His play was typical of his guru including the way he gave some Hindustani touches here and there. The choice composition in this was the composition of Chittibabu's grand father Saraswathi' set in Rupaka Talam. swaraprastharakritiJagadodharana' The final pieces included Chittibabu's famous light number Kommalo koyila' in Mand, a Western tune and Adevu Padevu' in Sindhubhairavi. P.Srinivas Gopalan on mridangam and T.P.Balu on Ghatam contributed to the general appeal of the concert. The tani in the main number by the percussionists was laudable.
