The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan which runs more than 1,000 Central Schools will offer Sanskrit as an elective in senior secondary classes from next year. In a memorandum to schools, the organisation has asked them to hire teachers on contract basis for this.
Although the option existed earlier, low demand led to it being phased out. The memorandum said that the decision to revive this was taken at the Board of Governors Meeting in October.
