Employees of PayPal joined employees of the Chennai Corporation to completely clean up a two-kilometre stretch of Rajiv Gandhi Salai on November 7. More than 500 employees of PayPal took part in the operation from Sholinganallur to Kaarapakkam and also interacted with shop owners and those running restaurants and other commercial complexes on proper collection and disposal of garbage and keeping the surroundings around their shops clean and free from garbage. Anupam Pahuja, General Manager, PayPal India, said that the initiative was their gesture to support the Corporation, which has been burdened with the task of cleaning up the city post-cyclone Nilam. This initiative ties in with eBay-PayPal’s global and local efforts to do their bit for society.

PayPal, in association with Society for the Development of Economically Weaker Section, celebrated the ‘Joy of Giving Week’ between September 29 and October 10 by travelling to Yelagiri to support school children. Drawing and singing competitions and an awareness camp on organ donation were organised. Fifty employees pledged to donate their organs. They also joined hands to collect stationery and sports goods worth Rs. 40,000 and also contributed to sales of articles made by special children, a press note said.
