Madras Round Table 1 turns 55

To mark the completion of 55 years of community service, Madras Round Table 1 sponsored 55 cataract surgeries at Sankara Nethralaya on November 14. Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Former Indian Cricket Captain and a former member of MRT1, handed over the cheque to the tune of Rs. 2 lakhs to Dr. S.S. Badrinath, Chairman of Sankara Nethralaya.

According to Aditya Mirza, Chairman, Madras Round Table 1, “In the past 55 years, Madras Round Table 1 has supported the education of thousands of children by building classrooms and hygienic toilets, providing schools with modern learning tools, clean drinking water and food and boarding to orphans and underprivileged children. At present, Madras Round Table 1 is constructing a six-classroom English Medium Block at the Lady Nye MRT1 School in Pallipatu, which is a school we have been associated with for over 50 years’’

Other Projects supported by Madras Round Table 1 are: building classrooms and toilets for the Government Girls School in Thiruporur; working with Tulir to raise awareness for the prevention of child sexual abuse; donating hearing aids and fund teachers’ salaries at the Clarke School for Deaf.
