Record number of nominations.

Adam Sandler portrays two characters in "Jack & Jill."

U.S. actor Adam Sandler set a record for cinematic stinker nominations on Saturday, as organisers of the Razzie awards unveiled their 32nd annual movie short lists of shame.

The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation nominees for worst films and performances, announced a day ahead of the Oscars, included no fewer than 11 for Mr. Sandler, more than double the previous record by Eddie Murphy in 2005.

Mr. Sandler amassed the 11 Razzie nods as actor, writer and/or producer of three critically-panned movies released by his Happy Madison Productions,

Jack & Jill leads the pack for Worst Picture with 12 nominations overall, including both worst male and female actors for Mr. Sandler and a third Razzie nod for Oscar winner Al Pacino, who plays himself in the movie.

“Should he win and choose to follow in the footsteps of previous winners Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock, Sandler could potentially become the first winner who literally has the balls to accept a Worst Actress Razzie,” it said. Other Worst Picture nominees are Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star , New Year's Eve , Transformers: Dark of the Moon , and Breaking Wind , a spoof on the Twilight movie series.

In a first for the Razzies, which were launched in 1980 as an antidote to Hollywood's annual award shows, all five Worst Picture nominees are also in the running for Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Screen Ensemble.

The winners of the Razzies, nominees for which are chosen by 657 voters in 46 U.S. states and 17 foreign countries, are usually announced on the Saturday before the Oscars.

But this year organisers changed the timetable, announcing the nominees on the eve of the Oscars, while the winners will be announced on Sunday, April 1 — April Fools' Day.

Nominees for the Razzies rarely turn up to claim their awards up at the spoof event.
