Mbappe, Giroud score in France’s 2-1 victory

Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud scored for France in their first competitive home fixture since winning the World Cup as the world champions defeated the Netherlands 2-1 in the UEFA Nations League encounter.

Denmark, who returned to full strength following a players’ boycott in the midweek friendly, defeated Wales 2-0 as Christian Eriksen scored one goal from open play and another from the penalty spot.

Djokovic claims 14th Grand Slam title

With a 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3 victory over Juan Martin del Potro that wasn’t as easy as the score board reads, Novak Djokovic won his third US Open title, taking his overall tally to 14 Grand Slam titles.

That means that Djokovic is now tied with Pete Sampras on the all-time list of Grand Slam winners among men, behind only Roger Federer’s 20 and Rafael Nadal’s 17.
