A Conference of the ryots of Dharmavaram Kadiri, and Penukonda taluks was held on the 11th instant at Mudigubba under the presidency of Mr. B.R. Venguswamyier. Three hundred ryots assembled. A large number of leading gentlemen of the district attended. Proceedings began with the singing of “Vande Mataram’’ by Messrs. The President dwelt at length on the agricultural needs of the district, exhorted the ryots to take to improved methods while appreciating the spirit awakened in the various communities of southern India, socially and politically. The President deplored the present cry for separate communal representation as tending to class hatred.

The conference passed several resolutions wishing success to the allies, welcoming Mr. Montagu and approving the Congress League scheme. The Conference unanimously resolved to send the following cable to the Trades and Labour Council, Hull: The Ryot’s Conference, Mudigubba, gratefully acknowledges the British Labour Party’s valued support to Indian Home Rule. Messrs. Seshagiri Row and Sankara Rao discoursed on the need for Home Rule, Mr. Narayana Rao exhorted the ryots to take more interest in cooperative societies. The Reddis deserve congratulations for closing up their differences and for organising this patriotic undertaking.
