From the Archives (Sept 5., 1918): The Aligarh College Trouble.

Nawab Ishak Khan of Mussoree wires [on September 3]: In connection with the resignation of the teachers and professors of the Aligarh College a special meeting of the trustees of the Mahomedan College at Aligarh will be held on the 22nd September when differences between themselves and the college staff, whose resignations have been announced in certain papers, will be considered. Mr. Gage, headmaster, tendered his resignation in April last because the trustees refused to sanction his annual increment pending enquiry into the complaints against his work. The principal with 4 others, European professors here have now, given six months' notice of resignation according to college rules. Miss Beek’s resignation will take effect from August next year. [On September 2] Mr. Storey, Professor of Arabic, resigned thus completing the series of resignation of the whole body of the European staff.
