From the Archives (Sept. 3, 1918): The Railway Collision.

The collision at Karchana, E.I.R., appears to be a serious one. It appears that 6 Down Passenger was running into Karchana station while No. 114 Down Goods was shunting. It was raining hard and the passenger train dashed into the goods train almost at right angles in some inexplicable manner. The passenger engine severed carrying with it tender and the foremost third class bogey and the goods train in two and jumping, landed on the platform itself. The engine and tender of the passenger were completely wrecked and is lying over the wagons. The foremost third class bogey has been smashed into matchwood. One Indian woman was killed in sitting posture with tons of wreckage over her. It has been found impossible to remove the corpse yet.
