Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek-Sands moved into the women's doubles final of the $1 million Brisbane International tennis tournament in Brisbane on Thursday.

There were ominous signs before the start of the semi-final encounter when Sania's partner Mattek complained of a sudden lack of feeling in left-arm during the warm-up and couldn't serve a ball, informs Imran Mirza, father-cum-coach of Sania. "She had couple of inflammatories and some treatment," he added.

But, this duo soon overcame those difficult moments, as Mattek looked better, as it wrapped up a 5-1 lead against Daniela Hantuchova and Katarina Srebotnik.

The champion women's tennis player from India, Sania Mirza, and her partner are through to the final when Hantuchova retired with a thigh injury after trailing 1-5 in the first set. Despite conceding a break point at the start, Sania and Mattek won the next five games in-a-row to really dominate the game.

Fortunately, Mattek did not complain of any more problems and is sure to be much fitter and better thanks to a day's break before the final. Friday is a rest day and the final is scheduled on Saturday.
