Riya Sachdeva outplays Saumrita in quarterfinals of Asian U-14 tennis tournament

Riya will play Nandini Dixit who continued well after beating the top seed Maria Breidy of Lebanon in the earlier round

Riya Sachdeva outplayed seventh seed Saumrita Jagatdeo Verma 6-1, 6-2 in the girls’ quarterfinals of the Asian under-14 grade-A tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex on Wednesday.

In the semifinals, Riya will play Nandini Dixit who continued well after beating the top seed Maria Breidy of Lebanon in the earlier round, with a smooth win over Samiksha Dabas.

The other semifinal will feature second seed Pari Singh, who broke little sweat in dismissing Jeetesh Kumari, and the gutsy fourth seed Shruti Ahlawat.

In the boys’ section, Yuvan Nandal overcame spells of lack of concentration to outhit Manas Dhamne 6-2, 6-2. Yuvan was able to counter the sharp game of Manas who had put out the top seed Rushil Khosla in the second round.

In the semifinals, Yuvan will face Ayushmaan Arjeria who beat the fourth-seeded Iranian, Amirali Ghavam. The other semifinal will be between Agriya Yadav and Vitin Rathee.
