Qualifier Janowicz shocks Cilic

Marin Cilic, seeded 13th, suffered a second round upset at the hands of Polish qualifier Jerzy Janowicz, losing 7-6(6), 6-2 at the Paris Masters on Tuesday.

In first round action on Tuesday, Jeremy Chardy defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-0, 6-3.

Another notable loser on Monday was Alexandr Dolgopolov, the finalist in Valencia last week, who fell 6-4, 6-3 to Igor Sijsling.

The results: Second round: Jerzy Janowicz bt Marin Cilic 7-6(6), 6-2; Kei Nishikori bt Benoit Paire 7-6(2), 6-2.

First round: Michael Llodra bt Daniel Gimeno-Traver 7-5, 6-3; Sam Querry bt Fernando Verdasco 6-1, 1-1 (retired).
