Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams maintained their hold on the top spot in the ATP and WTA rankings which were released on Monday.
Nadal enjoyed a winning return after injury and illness by claiming victory in the Rio Open on Sunday, and leads the rankings by exactly 4,000 points. Serena leads with 12,660 points, which puts her significantly ahead of Australian Open champion Li Na — who is second with 6,795.
Novak Djokovic remains the closest pursuer of Nadal in the top ten which is unchanged from last week.

Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka is third while former world number one Roger Federer remains eighth.
The women’s top five remain unchanged, but German Angelique Kerber continues her progress by moving up to sixth, just one place below her career highest ranking of fifth (in October 2012).
Petra Kvitova, who lost in the second round of the Dubai tournament last week, drops three places to ninth.
