Karman downs Prarthana

Karman Kaur Thandi outclassed the second-seeded Prarthana Thombare 6-3, 6-3 in the first round of the $10,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament here on Monday.

Karman led 4-2 in both sets, breaking Prarthana in the first game of the first set and the sixth game of the second, before cruising to victory.

Karman had only two aces but won 90 per cent of points on her first serve and 72 per cent on her second. Karman dropped only eight points on her serve, apart from six double faults.
