A struggling Somdev Devvarman has finally won the first match on his comeback, beating fourth seed Mischa Zverev 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the opening round of the ATP Challenger tournament, here.

After beating the World No.140, Devvarman — who had lost six consecutive first round matches since making a comeback at the London Olympics — next faces Japanese qualifier Taro Daniel.

The Indian, who missed the first half of the season as he was recuperating from a shoulder surgery, has slid to No.733 in the singles rankings.
