Andy Murray reached the semifinals at the French Open for the first time, beating Juan Ignacio Chela 7-6 (2), 7-5, 6-2 on Wednesday.
The fourth-seeded Briton, who lost in the Australian Open final, will next face top-ranked Rafael Nadal on Friday.
With Murray’s win, it is only the 12th time in the Open Era that the top four seeded players have made the semifinals at a Grand Slam tournament.
