The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has announced Sania Mirza, Poojashree Venkatesh, Rushmi Chakravarthi and Nirupama Sanjeev, as the women's team for the Commonwealth Games to be staged from October 3 to 14.
Meanwhile, the secretary general of the AITA, Anil Khanna, reiterated the need for financial support for the elite players, to meet the enormous expenses of having a coach and trainer on the circuit, and hoped that the Union Sports Ministry would take a practical view of the situation and release funds shortly.
