Horse racing cannot match cricket: RWITC chief

October 13, 2015 05:16 pm | Updated 05:16 pm IST - Mumbai:

On the aspect of marketing of horse racing, the RWITC Chairman Vivek Jain said that “gambling surrounds horse racing” and hence marketing it in a big way would be difficult. While addressing the ARC press conference here on Monday he said: “It (horse racing) cannot match cricket which is a sport of the masses in India. It’s very expensive to produce a two or three hour horse racing film. We are hopeful of a horse racing dedicated television in two years.”

Mr. Jain also said that the ARC would like top Indian sportspersons such as Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Sania Mirza, Leander Paes and top billiards and snooker players to address the delegates at the ARC. “The ARC clashes with the Australian Open, so it looks like the tennis players will not be able to make it.”
