The National Anti-Doping Agency Appeal Panel (NADAP) has reduced the two-year suspension of wrestlers Joginder Singh and Gursharanpreet Kaur by about 10-and-a-half months.
The two wrestlers, who were among the 11 athletes who tested positive for methylhexaneamine (MHA) in 2010, had been suspended for two years by a disciplinary panel on November 5, 2012. Counsels of Joginder and Gursharanpreet submitted before the NADAP that like some previously disposed of cases theirs should get the relief of 314 days on the ground of “delays not attributable to the athlete” under Article 10.9.3.
Accepting the argument, the NADAP, headed by Justice (retd.) M.L. Varma, in orders passed last month, reduced the suspension and ruled that the period of ineligibility of Joginder and Gursharanpreet must come to an end immediately.

Meanwhile, the NADAP made it clear that “the disqualification of results and consequent forfeiture of prizes, money, medals and points etc. as mentioned in Article 10.8 stands confirmed.”
Previously, the NADAP had reduced the suspension of wrestlers Rajeev Tomar, Rahul Mann, Sumit Sehrawat and Mausam Khatri on identical ground.
