Weightlifter Ravi Kumar finishes 15th

Weightlifter K. Ravi Kumar finished 15th with a total lift of 303kg in the men’s 69kg section in the Olympics at the ExCel Arena, here on Tuesday.

Loin Qingfeng of China took the gold with a total of 344kg, following 157kg in snatch and 187kg in clean and jerk. Triyatno Triyatno of Indonesia (333kg), and Martin Razvan Constantin (332kg) of Romania took the silver and bronze respectively, while Kim Myong Hyok of People’s Republic of Korea, who had topped Group ‘B’ in which Ravi Kumar had figured, was placed fourth with a total lift of 329kg.

Ravi Kumar had failed twice in his attempt to lift 141kg in snatch, and it was a similar story in clean and jerk, when he failed to clear 176kg twice.

A career-best lift of 311kg saw Ravi Kumar place sixth in the last Asian Games.
