Vijay Prabhakar is owner of Chennai Smashers

Complete mystery surrounded the owners of the Chennai Franchise in the Premier Badminton League till its auction began on Monday.

It emerged later that Vijay Prabhakar, elder son of actor and MLA Vijayakant, was the owner of Chennai Smashers.

It was reported that Shanmuga Pandian, the younger son of the actor, was the owner of the Chennai team.

But R. Siva Kumar, CEO of Chennai Smashers, clarified that it is Vijay who owns the team.

Siva said they have selected the best team. “Our combination of players was appreciated by everyone present at the auction,” he said.

The semifinals will be held in Bengaluru (January 14) and Hyderabad (January 15) respectively while the final will be held in Delhi (January 17).

Chennai Smashers matches : January 4: vs Awadhe Warriors; Jan. 6: vs Delhi Acers; Jan. 7: vs Mumbai Rockets; Jan. 10: Hyderabad Hunters; Jan. 12: vs Bengaluru Top Guns.
