Maharashtra’s Tushar Shelke snatched his third gold of the 33rd sub-junior National archery championships with victory in the boys’ Indian round (Olympic round) at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Friday.

The 17-year-old defeated Jharkhand’s Mukesh Turi six points to four in the gold medal contest to cap off a successful campaign. Shelke’s score of 351 (out of 360) in the 20m round of the morning’s ranking stages also equals the National record, according to the Maharashtra Archery Association secretary Pramod Chandurkar. This claim, however, could not be verified.

Jharkhand’s Simpy Kumari, meanwhile, emerged the girls’ Indian round champion after seeing off Gohela Boro in the gold medal match.
