Tamil Nadu outshoots Eastern Railway

Tamil Nadu emphasised its strike power while shocking defending champion Eastern Railway 84-79 and topping Group-A in the women’s section of the 33rd Federation Cup basketball tournament at the Gautam Buddha University here on Friday.

Dharshini top-scored with 24 points for Tamil Nadu which dominated the third quarter after leading 43-42 at half-time before Eastern Railway bridged the gap in the last quarter.

In the semifinals, Tamil Nadu will play Maharashtra while Eastern Railway will face the topper from the other group, Kerala.

Punjab Police on top

In the men’s category, Punjab Police finished on top, followed by defending champion Income Tax (Chennai). In the semifinals, Punjab Police will play Shri Guru Gobind Singh College (Chandigarh) while Income Tax will clash with Indian Army.
