Despite objections raised by the Union Sports Ministry and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the voting rights given to the State Olympic Associations, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has not proposed any constitution amendments to deny them this right at the scheduled Special General Assembly meeting to be held here on August 25.
In the list of amendments circulated by the group of National Sports Federations (NSFs) which has convened the meeting, almost all the amendments suggested by the ministry and the IOC had been incorporated including those on tenure and age of office bearers.
However, the contentious issue of State Olympic Associations having voting rights has remained. The NSFs controlling Olympic sports will have voting majority in the AGM and special general meeting as laid down in the Olympic charter.

On the question of elections the proposed amendments will allow a secretary or a treasurer to contest for the post of president after completing their respective two terms.
