Prasad oversees Indian team’s training

The former assistant coach G.R.L. Prasad, who is back in the scheme of things, oversaw proceedings as the Indian men's basketball team trained at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Monday ahead of the SABA Championships.

Prasad, who was previously an assistant coach under Scott Fleming, arrived in the city on Saturday.

S. Bhaskar, who has been named coach by the Basketball Federation of India, remained hopeful his release would soon be approved by the Sports Authority of India.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka and Maldives teams are expected to arrive in the early hours of Wednesday, with Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan to follow them a day later.

The SABA Championships are scheduled to begin on July 3.
