Pranjala stuns Naito

Y. Pranjala shocked top seed Yuki Naito of Japan in the girls’ singles quarterfinals at the BVG India-MSLTA B1 ITF Asian junior tennis. The Indian, ranked 94th, won 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 against her Japanese opponent, ranked No. 29.

Hong Kong’s Anthony Tang, ranked 125, advanced to the boys’ singles semifinals, defeating World No. 27 Horie Toru of Japan 6-2, 6-2 at the MSLTA School of Tennis, Balewadi tennis complex.

Pranjala won her singles quarterfinal in just over two hours. The Indian also made the doubles semifinal with Aikawa Mayuka of Japan.
