Ace Indian pistol shooter Omkar Singh bagged a bronze while the men’s and women’s teams won a silver each in the 10m Air Pistol events at the fourth Asian Airgun Championship in Kuwait on Thursday.
Omkar shot a score of 581 with a series of 97, 96, 95, 97, 99, 97 to qualify for the finals at fourth place. In the finals, Omkar shot 100.8 to climb up one spot for a podium finish.
Vijay Kumar finished eighth with a total of 678.1 (579+99.1) while another Indian Om Prakash was 12th with a score of 574 in a strong field of 56 shooters.

The gold in this event was won by Wu Xiao of China with a score of 689.2 (589+100.2) while Tan Zongliang won the silver with 683.8 (583+100.8).
The men’s team of Omkar, Vijay and Om Prakash won the team silver with a score of 1734. Gold was won by China with 1750 while Kazakhstan shot 1723 to win the bronze.
The Indian women’s team of Shweta, Annu and Harveen won the team silver with a score of 1140. Gold was won by China (1149) while bronze was won by Iran at 1135.

Meanwhile, Shweta Chaudhry missed the bronze by a very slender margin of 0.1 points after she shot a score of 483.2 in the women’s 10m Air Pistol. In the qualification round, Shweta shot a score of 385 with a series of 96, 98, 97 and 94.
London Olympic quota winner Annu Raj Singh finished seventh with a score of 478.8 (380+98.8) while this year’s World University gold medallist Harveen Srao was 16th with a score of 375.
