MRF Challenge: Toby Sowery is champion

Eighteen-year-old Toby Sowery of UK was crowned the MRF Challenge 2014 champion after a podium finish in Race three in the third and final round at the Irungattukottai track near here on Sunday. Sowery is the third champion of the MRF Challenge and at 18 years, the youngest as well.

Sowery finished on top of the standings with 221 points and Ryan Cullen second with 174. Raj Bharath finished third, making him the highest Indian finisher in the MRF Challenge.

Kyle Mitchell, who missed the final round, had 112 points with Tarun Reddy finishing fifth with 87 points.

Arjun Narendran won his first MRF FF1600 race ahead of Goutham Parekh in another thrilling race with the top two finishing less than a second apart from each other.

The results: MRF Challenge: Round three: Race 3: 1. Ryan Cullen, 2. Toby Sowery, 3. Oscar King; Race 4: 1. Oscar King, 2. Matthew Solomon, 3. Gustava Myasava.
