The Union Sports Ministry is awaiting more positive responses on the draft National Sports Development Bill (NSDB) before undertaking the formalities to make it a law.
In the backdrop of a newly-elected Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Sports Secretary Ajit Mohan Sharan said the Ministry would take some time before bringing the draft Bill before Parliament.
“In the next few days we will have a formal dialogue with the new IOA in order to take it on board and take it (the draft Bill) forward,” said Sharan.

“There are very strong views for and against the draft NSDB. We need a little more consensus before it is made a law,” said Sharan at a conference on ‘Sports and Sports Infrastructure,’ organised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), here on Monday.
Olympic gold-winning shooter Abhinav Bindra said a strong NSDB would ensure good governance and act as a “game changer”, effecting overall development of sports.
