Kush Maini’s result annulled

May 11, 2015 10:31 pm | Updated 10:31 pm IST - Bengaluru:

Kush Maini finished third in the first round of the CIK-FIA European KF-Junior Championship (karting) before he was hit with a penalty and his result annulled.

The Indian racing driver has appealed against the decision, the outcome of which will be known before the next round of the series, in the UK next month.

Maini started from fifth on the grid in the final before swiftly moving up to third. Two laps from the end, Maini and the Spanish driver David Vidales made contact during their battle for third place.

Maini was deemed to have made a ‘bad manoeuvre’ and his result later excluded from the competition.

“It’s been a great weekend of karting and we were very quick throughout the weekend,” the 14-year-old said later.

“The racing incident with Vidales was unfortunate. I’d like to thank Forza Racing for all their hard work and my mechanic Stewart Gibson for all the work he put in,” he added.
