London Olympics quarterfinalist shuttler P. Kashyap suffered a shock loss against old nemesis Wei Feng Chong in the third round of the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold here on Thursday.
Kashyap, now ranked No. 7 in the world, went down 21-18, 7-21, 16-21 in 55 minutes.
H.S. Prannoy, who had stunned stunned seventh seed Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand 18-21, 21-13, 21-12 the previous day, lost to Chinese Taipei’s Tien Chen Chou 21-16, 15-21, 21-15.

On Wednesday, Kashyap had edged out German Dieter Domke 15-21, 22-20, 21-13 while world No. 2 Saina Nehwal reached the pre-quarterfinals with a 13-21, 21-15, 21-12 over Sashina Vignes Waran of France.
P.V. Sindhu entered the second round after rival Ji Hyun Sung of Korea retired midway with the Indian leading 7-2.
In men’s doubles, Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar lost to Sung Hyun Ko and Yong Dae Lee of Korea 21-14, 21-12.
