Indian cagers down Kazakhstan in final qualifier

Indian men cagers picked up the pieces quickly after their loss in the second qualifier to outplay Kazakhstan 80-61 to top Group B at the Asian Games basketball competition in Incheon on Monday.

The Indians, who lost a hard fought match against Saudi Aradia 67-73 on Sunday, won their second of the three qualifying matches and moved into the next round.

India took control from the very start after taking the first quarter 24-14. The Amritpal Singh-led team never let slip from there and extended the lead in the next quarter to 47-31. The third and the fourth quarters were no different with the Indian men winning it on a canter.

India had won their opening fixture against Palestine 89-49 to give themselves a flying start.

India will next play Philippines on Tuesday.
