Setbacks force pair out of day’s two races

Gritty: Shaila Charls, left, and Ekta Yadav did not let a couple of reversals dent their efforts.

Despite a reversal of fortunes on Saturday, the National Sailing School (Bhopal) pair of Ekta Yadav and Shaila Charls stays on top after nine races at the sailing selection trials for the Asian Games.

After dominating the six races on the past three days, the duo’s boat capsized in the second race and in the third race the ‘kicker’ of the boat broke, forcing the girls to retire from both. However, the pair won the day’s first race.

Both incidents happened at the first downwind mark. Shaila said they would fight it out on the last day (Sunday). “We are disappointed, but we will make it,” she said.
