For the two Indians in the main draw it was a bad day in the Hong Kong squash open with both of them crashing out in the first round to higher ranked opponents even if with impressive fights.

Saurav Ghosal led 2-0 against 12th ranked Daryl Selby of England before skidding and eventually losing in five games in over an hour.

Daryl won 9-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-3

Similar was the experience of the 19th ranked Dipika Pallikal who faced World No. 3 Madeline Perry of Ireland.

Dipika was within an ace of leading 2-0 but slipped at crucial junctures and even if the contest extended to 61 minutes, the Indian could not finish off in style.

Madeline won 5-11, 11-8, 12-10, 5-11, 11-7
