A record that stood the test of time for 25 years was erased in the 34th Jharkhand National Games at the Birsa Munda stadium here on Saturday.

Services' Jaiveer Singh clinched gold in the men's 3000m steeplechase in a new Games record time of 8:48.68, rewriting the mark set by Pradeep Kumar Dogra (Delhi) in the ‘85 Games in Delhi.

Twenty-three-year-old Vipin Kasana of Delhi finished first in the men's javelin throw creating a Games record (77.22m), upsetting the Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Kasinath Naik.
