Indian archery squad

A 16-member Indian archery contingent for the World Cup Stage I tournament at Porec, Croatia, from May 4 to 8, was announced here on Sunday.

The squad was selected after a three-day trial held at the Sports Authority of India, Eastern Centre. As many as 41 countries and 339 archers will be in fray.

South Asian Games gold medallists, Tarundeep Rai and Dola Banerjee, were ranked No. 1 in their respective recurve categories. National champion Chinnaraju Srither and up and coming Gagandeep Kaur stood first among the 12 contestants in the compound section.

The squad:

Men, recurve: Tarundeep Rai (Services), Jayanta Talukdar (Steel Plant), Mangal Singh Champia (Railways) and Rahul Banerjee (Steel Plant). Women: Dola Banerjee, Laishram Bombayla Devi (both Railways), Chekrovolu Swuro (Nagaland) and Rimil Buriuly (Steel Plant).

Compound, Men: C. Srither, Kh. Ratan Singh (both Services), Ch. Jignas (AP) and I.R. Sanam (Railways).

Women: Gagandeep Kaur (Punjab), Jhano Hansdah, Bheigyabati Chanu and Manjudha Soy (all Jharkhand).
