Denmark Open badminton: Indian campaign ends at Denmark Open

Rio Olympics silver medallist P.V. Sindhu suffered a narrow loss against Sayaka Sato of Japan in women’s singles to draw the curtains on the Indian campaign in the Denmark Super Series here on Thursday.

Sindhu went down fighting 13-21, 23-21, 18-21 to World No. 12 Sato in the second round.

It was Sindhu’s first event after the Olympics and she will be back at the French Open next week.

Earlier, Ajay Jayaram and H.S. Prannoy also crashed out.

While Ajay went down to Shi Yuqi of China 23-21, 21-15 in a 46-minute battle, Prannoy lost to Lee Chong Wei 21-10, 22-20.
