Two-day rally attracts top drivers

The Vodafone Eastern Mountain Safari (VEMS), a National level two-day rally, will be held in the hills of Eastern India on November 10 and 11. The rally is offering the highest prize money ever in this part of the country.

The rally will be held in the northern part of Bengal.

The total distance of 400 km will be split into two legs. Travelling in and around Siliguri and its neighbouring mountain ranges, the rally will once again follow the exciting trend of GPS time controls along with the standard time controls and self-time controls.

Each day the driving time would be around 10 hours.

Teams from different parts of the country, numbering 25 and their cars are expected to participate. Modified Mitsubishi Cedia, Maruti Esteem, Tata Xenon, Safari, Vista and Grande and the Maruti Gypsy are some of them.

The specially prepared cars would be driven by eminent motorists like Somdeb Chanda (Kolkata), Sachin Singh (Hyderabad), Karthik Maruthi (Erode), Raj Singh Rathore (New Delhi), Anthony (Bangalore), Asish Budhia (Jharkhand) and others.

A purse of Rs.14, 30,000 is at stake. The first prize will be Rs. 5 lakh, the second Rs. 3 lakh, the third Rs. 2 lakh and the fourth Rs. 1 lakh.

Along with the prize money, each of the teams achieving positions will also receive two trophies each.

The rally is being organised by Ramakrishna Race Performance Management, headed by the father-son duo of Arindam Ghosh and Amittrajit Ghosh.
