JK Tyre has announced the launch of the JK Racing Asia series, with a package of six events and 18 races.
In a press conference here on Friday, the Managing Director of JK Tyre and Industries Ltd., Dr. Raghupati Singhania, said three of the six events would be support events for the F1 races in Malaysia, Singapore and India.
The other three events will be part of the Asian Festival of Speed (AFOS) in Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia. There will be four races each in the three events, as compared to the two races each during the F1 events.

The series will kickstart with the first two races scheduled to be held from April 8 at the Sepang International circuit in Malaysia. The F1 Singapore will be from September 23 and the one in India will be from October 28. The three events of AFOS will be in May and July.
The cars for the races will be called Formula JK Tyre Pacific and will have BMW engine. It will be another platform for the young drivers to groom their talent.
Actually, the new series will be a replacement for BMW Pacific series that had been running from 2003.

Recalling the initial association when he actually fought with JK Tyre way back in 1994, the CEO of Motorsport Asia, David Sonenscher, said that he was proud about the new bond that would take the sport forward in the region.
The president of the Federation of Motorsports Club of India, Vicky Chandhok, thanked JK Tyre for its consistent support over the years and expressed his confidence that 2011 would be “a year of Motorsports in India,”
