IOB beats Kerala Police, meets SDAT

VICTORIOUS: KSEB won the Panimalar Trophy on Friday, with a clean sweep of all four matches played in the five team league.

: Defending champion Indian Overseas Bank entered the final in the men’s section of the SAIL-Panimalar-P. John Memorial all-India volleyball tournament, at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, on Saturday.

IOB beat Kerala Police 25-19, 25-27, 25-21, 26-28, 15-11. It will take on SDAT in the final on Sunday.

SDAT defeated Income Tax 25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-11 in the other semifinal.

Income Tax and Kerala Police will now fight for third place, also on Sunday.

Earlier, Central Railway claimed the second spot in the women’s section, beating Southern Railway 25-19, 25-16, 22-25, 25-19.

KSEB triumphs

KSEB, on Friday, won the Panimalar Trophy with a clean sweep of all four matches played in the five team league.

It claimed a cash prize of Rs. 60,000, with the runner-up securing Rs. 50,000 followed by Southern Railway with Rs. 40,000, Indian Junior team Rs. 30,000 and Dr. Sivanthi Club Rs. 20,000.

Individual prizes (Rs. 5000 each) :

Best attacker : Alphonsa (KSEB);

Best blocker : Priyanka Bora (Southern Railway).

Best setter : Shruthimol (KSEB).

Best universal :

Mini Mol Abraham (Southern Railway).

Best libero :

Bincy (Indian Juniors).
