The Indian men’s hockey captain and midfielder Sardar Singh was officially reprimanded for inappropriate conduct here on Wednesday night.
The incident happened in the match against Australia on Tuesday when Eddie Ockenden was hit in the face by the Indian skipper.
After viewing video evidence, the appeal jury of the event found that Sardar had no intention to cause injury but had behaved inappropriately.
