Simon Child, a member of the FIH World All Star team in 2009, is among the nine players from New Zealand who will feature in next month’s Hockey India League players’ auction. The HIL will be held in January next year.
Among others, Phillip Burrows, with 286 caps, will be the major attraction.
The list includes New Zealand’s trustworthy defender Dean Couzins (260 caps, including three World Cups, three Olympic Games, three Commonwealth Games and three Champions Trophy events), goalkeeper Hamish McGregor, midfielder Shea Mcaleese (167 caps), Steven Edwards, who is recognised as one of the world’s best centre halves, and striker Hugo Inglis.
