Tottenham moved one point clear at the top of the English Premier League on Saturday as Manchester City and Manchester United suffered shock defeats.
Tottenham held off a Chelsea fightback as the two sides drew 1-1 at White Hart Lane but City was upset 3-2 at Aston Villa and champion United was humbled 2-1 at home by West Bromwich Albion.
Gylfi Sigurdsson scored Tottenham’s goal but John Terry equalised and though Fernando Torres was sent off late on for a second yellow card, the two sides settled for a draw.

But the shocks came for the two Manchester clubs as City and United were both beaten.
Chelsea moved up to third while City is fifth and Manchester United dropped to 12th.
City led twice at Villa Park but two goals in three minutes from Leandro Bacuna and Andreas Weimann secured victory for the home side.

United looked set for a comeback win when Wayne Rooney equalised Amalfitano’s opener for West Brom but the visitors won it when Saido Berahino rifled in the winner on 67 minutes.
At White Hart Lane, Gylfi Sigurdsson put Tottenham ahead in the 19th minute but substitute Juan Mata set up Terry to head the equaliser for a galvanized Chelsea side in the second half. Torres, who was outstanding in the second half, was sent off for a second yellow card after he was adjudged to have jumped into Jan Vertonghen with his elbow. Jermain Defoe forced a late save from Petr Cech and Sigurdsson went even closer but Chelsea hung on.
