The Indian Football Association, on Monday, asked the promoter of the ambitious Premier League Soccer, Celebrity Management Group, to furnish details of the source of income of its six franchises.

With more than Rs. 100 crore spent in securing the franchises and international stars like Argentine Hernan Crespo and former Italian captain Fabio Cannavaro among others, the tournament reached a technical hurdle with the State government seeking the financial background of the franchise owners as a precondition to allow them to use its stadium and infrastructure.

The IFA, which is the governing body of the sport in the State, formally asked the CMG to furnish the audited statement of accounts of the franchises at the behest of the Government. The IFA is likely to seek the clearance of the State's Sports Ministry after procuring the stipulated documents. The tournament, which was supposed to start on March 24, is now headed for a delayed beginning. — Principal Correspondent
