The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Saturday disqualified Mohun Bagan from taking part in the premier club tournament of the country, I-League, till 2015.

The AIFF delivered its verdict after a meeting of the I-League core-committee at New Delhi on Saturday.

The decision comes after Mohun Bagan refused to continue playing in the second-half, forcing the abandonment of the 10th round match against East Bengal on December 9.

The team has been scratched off from the present season (2012-2013) and has been barred from playing in the next two seasons (2013-2015).

Mohun Bagan can participate in other tournament as the sanctions only apply to I-League.

Mohun Bagan, terming the decision as “opposed to football”, has sought to appeal against it at an “appropriate” forum.

The club will convene a meeting of its executive soon to decide the future steps against the AIFF decision.

The AIFF I-League core-committee met after receiving the report of former Supreme Court judge A.K. Ganguly, who was appointed as the one-member enquiry committee by the AIFF on Dec. 17.Justice Ganguly, who had marathon hearing of all the parties involved in the match including Mohun Bagan and the AIFF on Dec. 24, held that the team has breached the clause 22 of the I-League regulation 2012-2013.
