Dynamos confirm Carlos appointment

Delhi Dynamos has confirmed the appointment of Roberto Carlos as the side’s manager for the second season of the Indian Super League (ISL).

The former Brazilian full-back is expected to arrive in the city on Tuesday. A media interaction is likely to follow on Wednesday.

The announcement was released on the Dynamos’ Facebook page, along with a video message from Carlos. The 42-year-old said, “Namaste India! I’ll be coming to you and the club, which is mine now. I want to win together.”

Commenting on the appointment, the franchise president Prashant Agarwal said, “We are delighted to have Roberto on board. Dynamos continue to bring the best of world talent to India.

“Till now, Roberto is the biggest signing of ISL season two. We are going to add a few more quality international stars to further strengthen our squad.”

The Brazilian will take charge of a side which finished fifth last year. With the auction and player draft to be held on Friday, it is likely that Carlos will be a part of the proceedings in Mumbai.

Dynamos has already retained Brazilian Gustavo Marmentini dos Santos, while Dutchman Hans Mulder is likely to return to the franchise as well.

Among the Indian players, the Delhi-based franchise has retained Souvik Chakraborty, Francis Fernandes, Shylo Malsawmtluanga, Robert Lalthlamuana and Anwar Ali. Dynamos has also signed forward Seminlen Doungel from NorthEast United FC and goalkeeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury, who played for Atletico de Kolkata last season.
