India is an exotic place for football: Capdevila

September 21, 2014 02:04 am | Updated May 23, 2016 04:10 pm IST - MUMBAI:

Joan Capdevila, NorthEast United FC’s marquee player and the only World Cup-winning squad member to be taking part in the Hero Indian Super League, is ready to play in any position the boss wants him to. New Zealander Ricki Herbert is coach at the Guwahati franchise.

“The coach decides the team formation and my role is to help the team.”

Signing up for a three-month event, that too for a franchise based in north-east India, is a curious move.

With a translator at hand, Capdevila explained: “India is an exotic place for football. I want to enjoy playing and at the same time wish to pass on the joy to fans.”
